The glory of FOOD

Comfort food. Healthy food. Junk food. Everyday food. Hostel food. Malaysian food. Italian food. Food, food, food!

Any genius reading this would know I'm hungry!! It's almost 4am and yet I'm wide awake, as usual.

hmm...I cant cook for peanuts. I cant even cook peanuts. Not that i dont like/want to cook, i do not have the skill or ability. Not unless you consider Maggi & other instant stuff as displays of my culinary skills. But i'd like to learn a thing or two...from MJ. Anything she cooks is comfort food for me. I grew up with her spoiling me with choices in her ever-expanding menu. yum yum.My mum's only really learning to cook now, and frankly she's getting pretty good! The major part being she's less cranky now when she cooks. And so, i willingly go to the kitchen.

Last night we made pizza. Mum made the base, and cooked the beef, sauteed with onions and other gizmos of cooking. Topping the pizzas was entirely up to me...me, me, ME. The first pizza, i mixed the beef with a bit Prego's italian sauce. lined the pizza base with mozarella, parmesan & cheddar, topped it with the beef mix. Put a lil bit of muschrooms, then more cheese (all three of them) & white pepper. And to finsh off, jalapenos!!! Lots of it. yumyum.

The second pizza was seafood. I generously spread tomato puree & Prego's over the pizza base. Then comes the crabsticks & whole prawns. A lot of mushrooms, decorated with capsicum slices. Lastly, mozarella and voila, a yummy yum yum dinner!!!

See, playing Pizza Frenzy actually pays off!!!

Then I made dessert : creme caramel. I felt so sophisticated, its embarassing considering how most ppl find this a simple dessert. Well, it was my first real attempt (before this i only made instant ones, the kind u buy the boxes from the supermarket). They turned out Ok actually. The custard ws a bit overcooked and bland (the way mum likes it), and i made a whole mess of sugar strings in my kitchen. Huhu.

To be fair, I'm not completely a kitchen virgin. My first attempt of frying an egg was at age 17. Then i graduated to pancakes n keropok. Most of my cooking was done back in school in Home-Ec classes, form 1 till form 3. But baking, i'll attempt once in a while. Among stuff i've successfully baked : chocolate cake, cheese cake (for my birthday!), banana choc chip muffins, choc chip cookies. And now I can add creme caramel to the list. Next project would be apple pie, chocolate mousse, &.....i'll figure something out.

Notice the abundance of chocolate in my attempts? hey, they say cook what u like to eat, & i like my dessert! cant you tell by my sexy curves? haha. Contrary to what's probably portrayed by what i've written, I'm not a big eater.

Anyway. I just wanted to write something in my blog, i miss the liberation. Being bogged down by too many heavy things lately and instead of a heartful, hateful, painful entry i came up with something light! Food....you can never go wrong with food.

Well. I'm off to eat my leftover seafood pizza. Bon Apetit! Have a nice day.
